Eagles outlast defiant Dockers

You can't catch Petch When Jack Petruccelle turns on the jets, don't bother trying to catch him

West Coast has won its eighth consecutive Western Derby, keeping an inaccurate Fremantle at bay with a 13-point triumph.

The Eagles burst out of the blocks with the only five goals of the first term, but had to hold off a spirited Dockers fightback to seal the 10.9 (69) to 7.14 (56) victory.

Andrew Gaff, playing Fremantle for the first time since last year's punch on Andrew Brayshaw, had the ball on a string with a 35 touches, while Jack Redden and Elliot Yeo were also prolific.

Jack Darling and Josh Kennedy booted three goals each, while speed machine Jack Petruccelle chimed in with two.

The Dockers will be left to rue their inaccuracy in front of goal, but will be buoyed by their fighting spirit.

More to come
