Will Schofield has been recalled to face the Crows on Saturday

Grand final hero Will Schofield is among the inclusions for the West Coast Eagles as they prepare for yet another important match against Adelaide at Adelaide Oval on Saturday evening.

The veteran defender, ruled out last week because of a heavy collision against St Kilda, was one of three inclusions as the Eagles match committee moved to mitigate against the forced changes in the fallout of a pulsating victory against Melbourne.

In the aftermath of the 16-point victory against the Dees, the selection panel could not consider young midfielder-forward Daniel Venables (concussion), ruckman Tom Hickey (ankle) or defender Lewis Jetta (suspension).

Also included in the team to confront the Crows are defender Jackson Nelson, held over as the emergency last Friday night, and emerging forward Jake Waterman.

Venables and Hickey went down within minutes of each other in the second term against Melbourne, with Hickey resuming after treatment and Venables sitting out the rest of the game in the dressing rooms.

Venables will miss this game – and possibly another – as the club’s medical team assesses his recovery from a sickening knock in a marking contest.

Jetta was suspended after a tackle on young Demons forward Tim Smith was deemed illegal. He was offered a one-week suspension by the match review officer and the club opted against challenging the ruling.

Nelson has been knocking on the door for a call up after showing solid form with the WAFL Eagles, while Waterman has not been able to get a consistent run at this year because of injury and circumstance.

The players listed as emergencies include utility player Josh Smith, small forward Jarrod Cameron and midfielders Matthew Allen and Brendon Ah Chee.
