Rioli, Vardy handed one-match bans

Willie Rioli is facing a one-match ban for his tackle on Sydney's Colin O’Riordan

West Coast Eagles small forward Willie Rioli and towering ruckman Nathan Vardy have been slapped with one-match bans following yesterday’s 45-point loss to Sydney.

Rioli was charged with engaging in rough conduct (dangerous tackle) against Colin O’Riordan during the second quarter of yesterday’s match.

Based on the available evidence, Match Review Officer Michael Christian assessed the incident as careless conduct, medium impact and high contact.

The incident was classified as a one-match sanction.

Vardy was also charged with engaging in rough conduct for an incident involving the Swans’ Jackson Thurlow, which occured during the second quarter of yesterday’s tussle at the SCG.
