Team announcement: Kennedy and Cole recalled

Josh Kennedy is back for our Friday night clash with Collingwood

Champion goal-kicker Josh Kennedy and hard-nosed defender Tom Cole have been recalled for tomorrow night’s blockbuster against Collingwood at Optus Stadium.

Kennedy, a dual Coleman medallist for the AFL’s leading goal-kicker, was a late withdrawal against Fremantle last Saturday night because of illness, but has recovered, trained strongly during the week and is ready to resume.

Cole was an emergency last week, but was the obvious replacement for fellow defender Liam Duggan, who is out for five to six weeks with an ankle injury.

Making way for Kennedy is the unlucky Brendon Ah Chee, who shone in his first game of the season against the Dockers but could not be considered because of a calf injury. Ah Chee was the late call-up to replace Kennedy five days ago.

The return of the premiership teammates at the expense of Duggan, another flag hero, and Ah Chee are the only changes to the team.

Lively small forward Jack Petruccelle, who had played every game before incurring a hamstring strain a fortnight ago, will resume with the WAFL Eagles against West Perth on Sunday, when the club plays at Mineral Resources Park, with free entry to fans of both clubs.

Also likely to resume in the WAFL is experienced defender Will Schofield, who was named as an emergency with Petruccelle, midfielder Matt Allen and wingman Josh Smith.
