Electric small forward Jarrod Cameron has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension that will have him wearing blue and gold until the end of season 2022.

The Naitanui Academy graduate, recruited with pick No.39 in the 2018 NAB AFL Draft, has made an exciting start to his AFL career, kicking 10 goals from his first four senior appearances.

Cameron debuted on one of the game’s biggest stages – a standalone Thursday night fixture against Essendon at Optus Stadium – and won his way into fans’ hearts with an impressive seven-tackle, two-goal performance.

The 19-year-old said he was “stoked” to extend his stay at the Eagles.

“I’m stoked to stay here for a couple more years,” Cameron said.

“I think I’ve got a long way to develop my footy, learning from Willie (Rioli), Liam (Ryan) and Crippa (Jamie Cripps), with how they go about their role and off-field.”

West Coast Eagles general manager of football Craig Vozzo said the club was thrilled to secure Cameron’s services for two more years.

“It’s a terrific time for him starting his footy career and we’re really delighted that he’s committed to us for another couple of years,” Vozzo said.

“We think he’s got lots of potential. He’s still very much at the beginning of his career with plenty to learn, but he knows that.

“He’s already had a significant impact at senior level and I’m sure he’s gaining more and more confidence by the week, but we look forward to what’s ahead for Jarrod.

“The negotiations with Jarrod’s manager, Andrew McDougall, ensured a smooth process and we’re grateful for that.”
