West Coast Eagles List Manager Darren Glass will depart the club next month after deciding on a career change outside of football.

A revered premiership player during a storied on-field career and key administrative figure since re-joining the club in November 2019, Glass has taken up an opportunity in the private business sector.

“Whilst only with us as List Manager for just over a year, Darren has done a great job in what was a very difficult year in the AFL,” General Manager – Football Craig Vozzo said.

“His sharp wit and unique humour will be missed around the Football Department, but will serve him well in his future pursuits.

“On behalf of the club, I take this opportunity to thank Darren for his efforts and to wish him, Alicia and the children all the very best of health and prosperity for the future.”

Glass stands among the greatest Eagles in history after captaining the club in 129 of his 270 games, earning All Australian honours on four occasions and winning three John Worsfold Medals as club champion.

The 39-year-old said he will always be grateful for the opportunity to return home to West Coast after two years as backline coach at Hawthorn.

“I want to thank CEO Trevor Nisbett and General Manager – Football Craig Vozzo for the opportunity to return to the club I love as List Manager,” Glass said.

“It has been a fantastic learning curve over the past 14 months which has allowed me to grow and develop my skillset.

“While it is with some sadness that I leave the club where I spent my entire playing career, I am confident West Coast is strongly positioned for now and into the future.

“I’m looking forward to supporting Adam Simpson and the players from afar while I start a fresh chapter in my professional life.”

West Coast is currently undergoing a process to recruit a new List Manager and an announcement will be made in due course.
