An athletic 202cm product from West Adelaide, Barnett was rated the best ruckman in the 2022 draft class. Capable of having an impact around the ground and taking a contested mark up forward or down back, he progressed from under-18s through reserves to play senior SANFL football this year. Barnett, who was the lead All-Australian junior ruck this year, ran the 2km time trial in 6:32 minutes and the 20m sprint in three seconds to underline his mobility. Averaged 18 disposals and three clearances at underage level for West Adelaide in 2022.
