​With only two trips to Melbourne left this season, we take on the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium this Sunday in round 18. 

Pre-match Function 

Our Marvel Stadium pre-match function is back for our round 18 clash against the Western Bulldogs, and we are excited to invite members to purchase tickets to this event. 

For $95, guests can enjoy a two-hour pre-match cocktail function, with delicious canapés, a relaxed match-day atmosphere, and insights from special club guests who'll share pre-match thoughts and updates from inside the Eagles' camp. 

Please note that match tickets aren't included with this function.

Unfortunately, due to venue requirements, the Captain's Run scheduled in Melbourne will be closed. 

Getting to Marvel Stadium 

Southern Cross Station is located adjacent to Marvel Stadium and stops for both V-line and Metropolitan train lines. It is only a short walk across the Spencer Street/Bourke Street pedestrian footbridge. 

City trams run to Marvel Stadium via La Trobe Street and Harbour Esplanade. Trams also stop in the CBD on Spencer Street, Bourke Street and Collins Street, and are all a short walk to the Stadium.

Last time we met: Bulldogs 19.12 (126) defeated West Coast 4.8 (32) at Marvel Stadium, round 23, 2025.

The Eagles endured a tough afternoon when the sides last met, with the Western Bulldogs claiming a 94-point victory at Marvel Stadium. Despite remaining competitive around the stoppages, West Coast was unable to capitalise on their opportunities going inside 50 as the Bulldogs' potent forward line took control. There were some encouraging individual performances for the Eagles, with Tom McCarthy collecting 25 disposals, Liam Baker with 24 disposals and Reuben Ginbey battling hard, while young forward Jobe Shanahan provided a strong aerial presence in attack.

What it means for the Eagles: After not tasting victory since round 12 against Essendon, West Coast will be determined to deliver a four-quarter effort against the Bulldogs outfit, while also looking to celebrate Elliot Yeo's 200th game for the club in the best possible fashion.

The stat: In a full circle moment, Elliot Yeo will celebrate his 200th game for West Coast this Sunday against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium – the same opponent and venue where he made his Eagles debut in 2014.

The match-up: Willem Duursma v Marcus Bontempelli

Western Bulldogs captain Marcus Bontempelli remains one of the competition's premier players, capable of impacting games through his contested work, clearance ability and scoreboard presence. For exciting young Eagle Willem Duursma, Sunday's clash presents a valuable opportunity to test himself against one of the AFL's best. The No.1 draft pick has impressed in his debut season with his versatility and composure and will relish the challenge of matching up against one of the game's elite midfielders. If Duursma can go with Bontempelli around the contest, it would mark another important step in his development.

It’s a big week for: Elliot Yeo

Elliot Yeo will reach a significant milestone on Sunday, with the dual club champion set to play his 200th game for West Coast. One of the club’s most accomplished players of the modern era, Yeo has built an outstanding résumé since arriving at the Eagles ahead of the 2014 season, including a premiership, two John Worsfold Medals and All-Australian honours. After overcoming a frustrating run with injury in recent years, the powerful midfielder has enjoyed a strong return in 2026, continuing to lead by example both on and off the field.

Big call: West Coast produces its best first quarter of the season, leading at quarter-time at Marvel Stadium.

The West Coast Eagles fell short at Marvel Stadium on Sunday in a competitive display against the Bulldogs.

Young gun Harley Reid had 27 disposals, nine clearances and one goal for West Coast, with Tim Kelly (23 touches) and No.1 draft pick Willem Duursma (20) also busy in the middle. Jobe Shanahan kicked two goals.

A five-goal haul from Bulldog Aaron Naughton helped his team to a hard-fought 16-point win, while Ed Richards did plenty of the midfield grunt work in their 13.8 (86) to 9.16 (70) victory.

It improved the Dogs' record to 10-7 and lifted them to seventh on the ladder, while a fifth consecutive defeat leaves the Eagles (4-13) in the bottom three.

Bontempelli shone with 25 disposals and 12 clearances, and kicked two crucial goals in the third term, which kept his side in the contest when the Eagles briefly threatened to break clear.

Richards finished with 28 touches, six clearances and one goal, with Bailey Dale (29 disposals), Rhylee West (23) and Tom Liberatore (23) also important contributors for the home side.

Two Naughton goals in the opening term gave the Bulldogs a nine-point advantage at quarter-time, but it was the Eagles who held a surprise lead at the main break.

The visitors kicked four goals to one in the second term and were 14 points up in the third when Duursma sprinted away from opponents to kick a superb goal from inside the centre square.

But Bontempelli replied almost immediately from similar range and added a second soon afterwards as the Bulldogs wrested back momentum.

Jedd Busslinger prevented a certain Eagles goal with a desperate smother on Shanahan, and Lobb's set shot helped the Dogs to a three-point lead at the final change.

Reid's snap from the boundary put West Coast back in front early in the final term, but the Bulldogs finished full of run and kicked the last four goals of the game, including two vital majors from Naughton.

The Eagles kept fighting to the end and had the last three scoring shots but couldn't find the goals to drag themselves back into the contest.
