The Walk for Mental Health invites people to do 49,000 steps during the week to raise money for prostate cancer research, nurses, advocacy, and awareness.

Run by the Prostate Cancer Foundation of Australia, the event begins Monday June 13, in solidarity with local men who are affected.

With 49 Australian men diagnosed every day, it’s a cause we can’t ignore.

In an effort to engage the community and increase the awareness of prostate cancer, the risks, testing and support available we are sharing the Walk for Him Challenge.

It’s the most common cancer among local men, its causes are unknown, and often it strikes with no warning.

The disease is prostate cancer, and this Men’s Health Week locals are being asked to step up to raise survival by doing the Walk for Him.

Robert Wiley Coach is in support of the cause and is encouraging the WAFL Eagles to take part.

"I strongly believe that we can never take our health for granted I get my PSA tested yearly, and have been doing so for the last 25 years," he said.

"It’s one simple test and gives peace of mind.

"To educate and raise awareness for this important cause I’m encouraging all WAFL Eagles players to participate in the Walk For Him challenge.

"I believe this is an extremely important cause and can help raise money and awareness, as well as funding for all Australians."

PCFA CEO Anne Savage encouraged locals to sign up for Walk for Him and get active to save lives.

“Awareness saves lives – we know that we can make great strides with Walk for Him,” she said.

“All funds raised will go towards prostate cancer research, nurses, advocacy, and awareness, directly supporting men with prostate cancer in the local community.

“Over the past 10 years we’ve come a long way, funding $40m in research, placing 100 Prostate Cancer Specialist Nurses, and providing one million info kits to the Australian community.

“But we have more work to do, together, to save lives.”
