West Coast Eagles full-back Tom Barrass will not play against Hawthorn in Launceston on Sunday due to illness.

The reigning John Worsfold medallist did not fly with the Eagles on Friday but was hopeful of travelling on Saturday if he recovered in time.

However, Barrass will miss his first game of the season and has been replaced in the selected team by Rhett Bazzo, who returns from two games sidelined by concussion protocols.

Yet-to-debut draftee Harry Barnett has been called into the list of emergencies for the 1.10pm (11.10am AWST) clash at UTAS Stadium.
