West Coast Eagles vice-captain Jeremy McGovern has been ruled out of this weekend’s clash with Richmond, following a head knock that saw him unable to complete Saturday night’s battle with Melbourne.
“Gov’ suffered a head knock late in the second quarter on the weekend,” High Performance Manager Mat Inness told westcoasteagles.com.au.
“He failed his concussion test at half time so is now in concussion protocols, which unfortunately rules him out for this weekend.”
Elliot Yeo’s ankle rehabilitation has encountered a setback, with the midfielder requiring surgery last week.
“Elliot had surgery to remove some metal from his previous syndesmosis surgery that was stopping him progressing his rehab,” Inness said.
“He will now be off legs for the next week or two to allow this to heal before we restart his rehab.
“We will give an update on his return to play timeframe after he progresses in the next week or two.”
Harry Edwards was unavailable on the weekend due to a minor ankle complaint.
“Harry missed last week with an ankle tendon irritation, however he has recovered well,” Inness said.
“We will test him in main training on Thursday, and if he gets through, he will be available for selection this weekend.”
Young forward-ruck Archer Reid came from the ground during the Melbourne game with an ankle concern but managed to return to the field later in the game.
“Archer rolled his ankle, however he saw out the game without issues,” Inness said.
“He will have a quiet start to the week and will train on Thursday, and he is expected to be available for the weekend.”
