West Coast Eagles co-captain Bella Lewis will be a test for this weekend’s clash with GWS Giants, after suffering a hip pointer injury against Melbourne last round.
“Bella came off to be assessed after she landed heavily on her hip in the first quarter,” High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.
“She returned to the field but was restricted in her movement and was removed from the game in the third quarter.
“She has pulled up well and we expect her to return to some level of training today, she will need to get through a full session later in the week to prove her fitness Sunday.”
Exciting first-year Eagle Lucia Painter is in concussion protocols from a head knock suffered in round five against Fremantle and will be unavailable this weekend.
“Lu will be unavailable for Sunday’s game but is moving in the right direction,” Batterton said.
Midfielder Sanne Bakker is making strong progress in her return from illness, while Liz McGrath continues to recover from an ankle injury.
“Sanne will return to training with the group this week, which is really exciting progress,” Batterton said.
“She won’t be available this weekend but we’re optimistic she’ll be available for selection within the next one to two weeks.”
“Liz looks set to return to running at some point this week, and we expect her to be around two weeks away from full fitness.”
