West Coast recruit Harry Schoenberg will run out in the blue and gold for the first time this Sunday, with the midfielder confirmed to make his club debut against Port Adelaide.

Schoenberg was originally drafted by Adelaide with pick 24 in the 2019 National Draft from the Woodville‑West Torrens, going on to play 62 games for the Crows. He arrived at the Eagles in November during the Supplemental Selection Period and was quick to make his mark.

After an impressive pre‑season, the 25‑year‑old has earned his opportunity to officially begin the next chapter of his AFL journey.

Schoenberg said the moment he was told he would be playing was one he will remember.

“It’s obviously a great moment for me,” Schoenberg said.

“I came across here to West Coast from Adelaide Crows and I get my opportunity to play this weekend.

“I’m delighted, all the boys got around me. It was a special moment when ‘Mini’ (Andrew McQualter) announced it.

Reflecting on what has led him to this point, Schoenberg said timing and experience have played a big part in his growth.

“I think it sort of clicked timing‑wise,” Schoenberg said.

“I came over here (WA) for a second opportunity to live out my dream. I’ve been through that moment as a young fella and learned from my experience.”

His Eagles debut will hold extra significance as it comes at Adelaide Oval, a venue he knows well from his years as a Crow.

“Yeah, it is a full circle moment, I get to go back home to Adelaide, obviously I played a fair few games there at Adelaide Oval as a Crow, so it will be good to get home and play in front of family and friends.”

As for his role, Schoenberg says he’s ready to slot in wherever the team needs him.

“I’ll play anywhere ‘Mini’ chooses to put me,” Schoenberg said.

“Hopefully a little bit up forward and maybe a bit in the midfield as well.”
