Team announcement: Cripps ready to rip in

Jamie Cripps is set to take on the Crows this Sunday

Energetic forward Jamie Cripps will resume immediately in the AFL when the West Coast Eagles confront Adelaide at Optus Stadium on Sunday in a game where the final eight implications could be pronounced.

Cripps has missed the last three games after tweaking his groin in the opening term of the round 17 loss to Collingwood, but has proved himself fit and is the only confirmed change for this week’s battle.

While the Eagles are guaranteed a place in the AFL Finals Series, their place within the eight is still to be decided, while Adelaide is fighting to secure a place in September.

That will likely ensure some additional spice to a game between two respected rivals as we approach the sharp end of the season.

The return of Cripps is a lock, but senior coach Adam Simpson and his match committee will overnight ponder the final composition of the team.

The final 22 will be lodged tomorrow afternoon.

Also under strong consideration for a return are utility players Mark Hutchings and Brendon Ah Chee, as well as defender Josh Rotham.

At this stage the decision on the player to make way for Cripps  - or others on the cusp of a senior call-up – has not been made.

The three inclusions are named on an extended interchange bench with young forwards Jake Waterman, Jarrod Cameron and Jack Petruccelle, veteran Chris Masten and defender Jackson Nelson.
