First-year defender Harry Edwards believes West Coast’s confidence is growing following their thrilling round four win over Claremont on Saturday.

The Eagles’ gutsy two-point victory capped off an impressive run for the club, who now sit fifth on the ladder and are firmly entrenched in the finals hunt.

Edwards told westcoasteagles.com.au the team was starting to reap some reward for effort following a tough loss to Subiaco in round three.

“After narrowly going down to Subi last week, we gave them a good run, to get a win (against Claremont) is awesome,” Edwards said.

“It’s a good reward for the boys and to knock off the top-of-the-ladder team is awesome. We’re in a pretty good position at the moment.”

After a disappointing round one loss to Perth, the Eagles have performed strongly against Peel, Subiaco and Claremont.

Ruckman Keegan Brooksby has been in great touch and currently ranks second in the league for hitouts with a total of 143 over four games.

West Coast’s on-ballers have also flourished, with Matthew Allen, Jackson Nelson and Hamish Brayshaw all averaging more than 20 disposals per game to date.

Jake Waterman has been outstanding up forward with 13 goals in just three games and is tied with Claremont’s Tom Lee in the race for the 2019 Bernie Naylor Medal.

The Eagles will look to build on their recent form when they take on fourth-placed South Fremantle at Fremantle Oval on Saturday.
