In response to the evolving pandemic related to COVID-19, the West Coast Eagles Community & Game Development team will provide an extensive range of modified and newly designed education, community and academy programs via online platforms.

Thanks to the support of Inclusion & Diversity partner BHP, students and young footballers from across Western Australia will be able to access free online educational content, skill development activities and high level coaching, as well as specific advice and examples on how to stay physically and mentally active during what is an unprecedented and challenging time for our community.

Led by an experienced team of professionals including qualified teachers, AFL/AFLW coaches and players, the activities have been carefully designed and guided by the Australian Government’s Department of Health recommendations.

General Manager – Game Development Richard O’Connell acknowledged the club has a heightened role to play in the community considering the current situation.

“The health and wellbeing of the West Coast Eagles community is our number one priority in this challenging time – this includes our players, coaches, staff, members, partners, fans and program participants," O'Connell said.

“Whilst taking the necessary precautions to minimise any risk, we believe we have an increasingly important role to play in providing positive messages and examples of physical and mental health.

“The ability to adapt and modify our programs and continue to offer them for free to all participants is thanks to the support of our sponsors and long standing members.”

The online delivery of West Coast Eagles Community & Game Development programs has commenced already, with the intention to amplify this form of community engagement over the coming weeks and/or months.
