Holding honest conversations and showing exactly where West Coast’s game is breaking down has been coach Adam Simpson’s modus operandi in a bid to arrest the team's form slump.

The Eagles have been below-par in Queensland since the season restart, struggling to move the ball with their normally precise skills or hold field position across four quarters.

In the unfamiliar reaches of the ladder in 16th spot with a 1-3 record, the squad and coaches have been dissecting everything from gamestyle, training plans to daily routines to inspire a turnaround.

“We start with the honesty and where we’re really at is the first thing we did,” Simpson told 3AW about the aftermath of Saturday's loss to Port Adelaide.

“We had a really good conversation yesterday with the game review.

“Showed the vision, showed the realities. This is it, this is the way it is and if we don’t get this right we won’t win.

“There’s that, there’s the inability to play four quarters at the moment is probably the biggest concern and what’s presenting (from) our players with some of the data with their GPS running.

“We’ve just got to get that right, that’s not there at the moment.”

West Coast has kicked just six goals in three defeats against Gold Coast, Brisbane and the Power, with the engine room struggling to supply a normally dangerous forward line.

The Suns and Lions matches were played in unfamiliar slippery conditions at night, however during the dry day game against Port Adelaide the Eagles also struggled to crank up - apart from an encouraging third-quarter burst.

“There was absolutely no excuses on the weekend, the conditions were perfect,” Simpson said.

“Our inability to transition the ball was disappointing. But we can’t just rely on back half ball movement, we’ve got to be able to get some supply and then lock it in our front half.

“It’s a pretty basic style of play. You’d have to think every club has that same No.1 goal. We’re not doing it at the moment.

“I don’t think we’re miles away. It might look like it. We’re not giving up and we’re not turning up our toes, we need to fight our way through it.”

West Coast will face Sydney at Metricon Stadium this Saturday at 1.45pm (11.45am in Western Australia) after the scheduled Thursday night clash with Richmond was cancelled.

The Swans fly north off a nine-day break following their 28-point loss to the Bulldogs at the SCG, which left them at 2-2 and in 11th position on the ladder.
