The 2020 NAB AFLW Draft will be held via an online video conference on October 6 at 5pm AWST.

It is the first time the event will be run both during the evening and completely online, with the move coming as a response to COVID-19 restrictions.

West Coast currently holds picks three, 18, 32 and 52 in the national draft, which essentially gives the Eagles selections one, three, five, seven and eight in the WA component of the player ballot.

The Delisted Free Agent period closed at midday AWST today and AFLW List Lodgement No.3 was confirmed at 2pm.

The NAB AFLW Draft is state-based.

Players nominating for the NAB AFLW Draft must elect which state they wish to play with some clubs also having specific region within their State to develop talent.

The NAB AFLW Draft Nomination period will open on Tuesday, September 1 and close on Monday September 21.

Clubs will be required to nominate any Father/Daughter players by 2pm AWST on Monday, September 28.

AFL Head of Women’s Football Nicole Livingstone said the competition was operating in a unique environment and would remain agile as it prepared for 2021 NAB AFLW Season.

“These are unprecedented times and this year has presented many unique challenges across all levels of football. The collaboration from all AFLW clubs throughout this period of time is to be commended and has been a defining factor in enabling us to plan for the future,” Livingstone said.

“There has been great momentum for AFLW and while the 2020 NAB AFLW Draft will look different, we know it will still recognise and celebrate the accomplishments of so many talented young women.”

“We are all excited to see what the next generation of footballers will bring to the NAB AFLW competition in 2021.”
