Respected West Coast Eagles leader Luke Shuey has been endorsed as captain for a second season, after the club completed its usual process today.

His vice-captain is four-time All Australian defender Jeremy McGovern while the deputy vice-captains are veterans Josh Kennedy and Nic Naitanui.

Shuey, a dynamic midfielder, was a vice-captain with Kennedy for three years before assuming the mantle of skipper last season and he excelled in that capacity during a difficult 2020 campaign.

With Shuey injured for the opening game this Sunday against the Suns, McGovern will step in to skipper the side.

The 28 year old filled in for Shuey last season, leading the Eagles to a victory over the Adelaide Crows on the Gold Coast.
