The West Coast Eagles have made only one change to the victorious round one team for the challenge against the Western Bulldogs at Marvel Stadium tomorrrow.

In a like for like switch, it is one small forward for another as Jack Petruccelle makes way for Jamaine Jones.

After staving off the threat from the Gold Coast Suns in last week’s season opener, edging their way to a 25-point win, the Eagles now face the formidable Bulldogs in an early crunch game.

While Petruccelle struggled to impact the match against the Suns – although his last quarter was impressive – Jones was the medical substitute and did not get a run, indicative of the Eagles getting through the contest unscathed.

With captain Luke Shuey and Elliot Yeo, automatic first choice selections who are not yet fit to play, the match committee has maintained faith with the rest of the team that ticked the 'W' column in the first week of the 2021 campaign.

The obvious strength of the Bulldogs is its midfield group, where captain Marcus Bontempelli, Lachie Hunter, Adam Treloar and Bailey Smith lead the way. In the absence of Shuey and Yeo, the Eagles will need strong out-put from those charged with the engine room responsibility.

Tim Kelly, who started with a glowing performance, travelled later to Melbourne – with Liam Ryan – but is ready to go and will aim to combine with Dom Sheed, also outstanding last Sunday, Andrew Gaff, Jack Redden and youngster Xavier O’Neill to get the job done.

If they can capitalise on the work of Nic Naitanui and present opportunities to Jack Darling, Josh Kennedy and Oscar Allen, the Eagles are obviously potent up forward and can kick a wining score against another team rated a strong top four chance.

They warmed up for the match with a captain’s run at Punt Road earlier today with a short-sharp session that has them primed for the battle.
