A handful of emerging young players – as well as an experienced fan favourite – have been included in the West Coast Eagles squad for Sunday’s battle with Adelaide at Adelaide Oval.

The Eagles will further explore their list with mid-season rookie draft selection Connor West, announced as a debutant earlier today, joined by key defender Harry Edwards, forward-ruckman Bailey Williams and midfielders Luke Edwards and Xavier O’Neill in the 26-man squad.

Premiership wingman Mark Hutchings has also been named in the extended team after a couple of strong performances for the WAFL Eagles.

Just how deeply the club explores its list this week will be determined when the final 22 is announced tomorrow afternoon.

West and Harry Edwards have been named in the starting 18, effectively replacing injured utility player Brendon Ah Chee (hand) and defensive pillar Tom Barrass (hamstring).

The others will have to wait until tomorrow to find out if they have secured a place in a team determined to rebound after three sub-par defeats.

Luke Edwards was the medical sub last week, but spent the entire night of the North Melbourne match watching from the bench.

He would be ultra-keen to play against the Crows in his home town where many of his friends and family could watch him at the elite level for the first time.

Also named in the extended squad are forwards Jack Petruccelle and Zac Langdon and defenders Jackson Nelson and Josh Rotham. All played on Monday night against the Roos.
