West Coast will be without captain Luke Shuey against St Kilda on Saturday after scans revealed a minor calf strain suffered against Adelaide.

Shuey was subbed out of the Crows victory in the final quarter and is expected to have a short stint on the sidelines.

“Luke unfortunately strained his calf in the game and was subbed out. That’s what the MRI has shown (a strain), so he looks like he’ll miss a couple of weeks with that,” club physiotherapist Mark Finucane told westcoasteagles.com.au.

In better news, champion spearhead Josh Kennedy is aiming to take on the Saints after a calf complaint saw him miss the trip to Adelaide Oval.

“Josh has settled well after the weekend off and just has a normal week of training to be available for this weekend, so see how he goes through training this week,” Finucane said.

Important duo Jack Redden (leg) and Tom Barrass (hamstring) are edging closer to their comebacks and have been progressing their on-ground running workloads.

“Jack with his leg, he has just started his on-ground running and we’ll monitor his response to his building loads this and next week,” Finucane said.

“Likely to be a couple more (weeks out) at this stage.

“’TB’ is building his running this week and layering in his football progressions later in the week. Probably still a couple of weeks away.”

Meanwhile, there is positive news for the WAFL Eagles, with Mid-Season Rookie Draft recruit Will Collins set to return from a hamstring niggle against East Perth, while last year’s draftee Zane Trew is nearing sign off from his hamstring issue.

“Will has progressed through his rehab program, so he just has to train this week and play this weekend,” Finucane said.

“Zane is signing off from his hamstring later this week, and he’s progressed really well, so he’s on track to be available next week.”
