Newton’s arrival at West Coast adds a burst of power and pace to the Eagles’ forward and midfield rotations. Selected with pick No.9 in the 2025 Mid-Season Rookie Draft, the 179cm Norwood product impressed with his explosive speed, contested ball-winning ability, and tidy left-foot kicking. After an injury-interrupted draft year in 2024, Newton bounced back strongly in the SANFL, kicking seven goals across four senior games and showcasing his versatility as a small forward-mid. Newton’s contest and ability to break lines earned him an AFL debut in round 23 and he appeared again at senior level in round 24 to close out the season as he continues to develop at AFL level.
