Coming from the Western Bulldogs in 2020, Gaelic football convert Aisling McCarthy has been a key member of the squad now for three seasons having played a total of 33 games of AFLW. After a few disrupted seasons the midfielder managed to get through all ten games in season seven and had consistent contributions to finish runner up for this season’s club championship award for the second time in her career following her named being called for the award in 2021. McCarthy was at her best this season during round one against Port Adelaide arguably having a career performance earning herself a Goal of the Year nomination in a fourth quarter surge saw her side take their first victory of the year. West Coast traded for McCarthy back in 2020 and played a total of 11 games in total as she battled a wrist injury that saw her take the sidelines for considerable amount of time leading into seasons seven. The County Tipperary product can play multiple positions transferring from the forward line to the midfield in 2020, where she has now become a dominant player using her speed and strength to get the ball forward.
