Making her long-awaited debut in season seven defender Sasha Goranova has shown she is a consistent force in the West Coast Eagles backline. Initially overlooked in the draft after representing Western Australia in the 2019 under-18 competition, Goranova was a train-on player for West Coast in 2021 and was close to a debut when she was named as an emergency that same season. Over the summer of 2022, the side was granted the ability to sign four mature-age players, and as a result Goranova was recruited alongside her Claremont captain and teammate Ella Smith. In her first year with the club Goranova played all ten games in the season as demonstrated a disruptive against whoever she played averaging 3.3 tackles a game. The 21-year-old has a high work rate and a tendency for big hits and clean spoils making her one of the more underrated defenders in the competition.
