Former NBL1 basketballer Eleanor Hartill was brought into the squad prior to season seven after showing promising signs at an Eagles’ talent search day and in her first season in the Perth Football League with Collegians Football club. The 22-year-old made her debut in round three against Essendon and showed coaches she has the versatility to play multiple positions including back, forward and in the ruck. During round nine against the Bulldogs Hartill had her highlight of the year when she dribbled through an incredible goal from the sideline 40 metres out to earn herself and goal of the year nomination in what was her first ever goal in AFLW. Standing at 185cm Hartill was a useful injection of height throughout the field however her ability to stick tackles was a key strength shown in her game ultimately locking her place in the playing group for majority of the season.
