The West Coast Eagles will compete with Sydney to fight for the HMAS Sydney II trophy on Friday, April 15 at Optus Stadium.

The  HMAS Sydney II tribute game is built around honouring and recognising 'service to country,' while remembering all 645 crew members who lost their lives as a result of the HMAS Sydney II sinking on 19 November 1941.

West Coast are proudly working together with the Royal Australian Navy, Finding Sydney Foundation, HMAS Stirling and HMAS Sydney Association in an effort raise funds this weekend for Legacy WA, who care for the families of veterans who have either lost their lives or health as a result of their Australian military service.

At this game West Coast and Sydney honour our military veterans, active-duty service members and their families, while also wishing to thank the Royal Australian Navy, Finding Sydney Foundation, HMAS Stirling, Legacy WA and the HMAS Sydney Association for their support.

Legacy ambassador, Chelsea Lankford, will be a part of the guard of honour to represent the organisation.

“I am so grateful to Legacy for everything they do for me, and I would love the opportunity to represent Legacy," Lankford said.

"I hope to be able to give back to Legacy when I'm older to assist other kids to have the same experiences I have been able to."
