After three seasons with the West Coast Eagles, inaugural ruck Parris Laurie has today announced her retirement from football.

Joining the Eagles for their marquee season, Laurie has been a member of the leadership group over the past two years and has been a valued member of the club during this time.

Serving as the stand-in captain over the final two games of the 2021 season due to the absence of Emma Swanson, Laurie has been a well-respected member of the AFLW group and played in every possible match since her debut.

Also earning herself Best Club Person honours in 2021, Laurie has been a key player in the Eagles' cauldron, finishing in the top 10 at the Club Champion awards in all three seasons played, including coming third in 2020 and 2022.

"I absolutely loved being a part of the inaugural Eagles side and it's something I'll remember forever, it was like a fairytale," Laurie said.

"It was so special and we celebrated so many firsts together, including our first win which was my favourite memory at the footy club.

"The last couple of seasons have also been unreal, it's an amazing club to be a part of and a fantastic group of girls.

"It will always be a big part of me, the memories and friendships we've all made together, and experiencing those firsts in our marquee season has definitely given us a special bond.

"I'll always have their backs no matter what and I've made some lifelong friendships.

"I definitely back them in for success in the future and wish them all the success in the world as well.

"I know the Queens of the big game will show them they deserve to be in the competition, they're only going to get better and better and I can't wait to see them succeed."
