Last week our Community and Game Development staff members Sam Rotham, Bradd Dalziell and Janelle Marangon headed to Leinster as a part of the BHP Youth Engagement Partnership.

Accompanying the team was AFL-listed player Luke Edwards who attended the trip as a West Coast Eagles role model, sharing stories and experiences with the Leinster community.

After touching down in Leinster they headed to the town centre where they were greeted by approximately 60 smiling boys, girls and parents for our Eagles Freestyle Footy session.

Participants of all ages, participated in fun and engaging skill based and game like activities under the lights of the community oval.

The next day the team headed Leinster Community School spending time with each year group across the course of the day, playing footy and engaging with Leinster’s youth.

The team were able to educate and deliver many of the Eagles community and education programs inclusive of Eagles Freestyle Footy, Eagles Faction Footy and SOAR.

Rick the Rock flew in for a special visit, surprising students in each classroom.

Over the course of the trip, the programs engaged with approximately 500 members of the Leinster community and the West Coast Eagles brand was well submersed around with much excitement from the BHP mining town.

Thank you to BHP for their ongoing support and contribution to Eagles community and education programs and Michael Plowman from ISS for his support and leadership throughout the trip.

A special thank you to the Leinster community for welcoming the team with open arms and making it a memorable trip.
