The West Coast Eagles have elevated versatile swingman Jamaine Jones to its senior list.

Jones was secured by the club as a supplementary list selection in 2020, initially as a small forward, but in the middle of last season his dash and ball skills were deployed as a rebounding half-back.

Originally drafted by Geelong, Jones played seven games for the Cats before accepting an invitation to train with the Eagles in the summer of 2020.

Jones, 23, has now played 35 games for the Eagles including 18 last season and finished ninth in the Club Champion Award.

While Jones has been promoted two of the club’s young players, midfielder Zane Trew and forward Isiah Winder have been informed that they have been removed from the list.

Trew and Winder have also been made aware they will be given every consideration to re-join the club through the draft period.

“It is great to be able to reward Jamaine for his strong season,” said football manager Gavin Bell. “He has been a vibrant part of our group since arriving in 2020 and his adaptability was on show throughout last season.

“While it is disappointing for Zane and Isiah they remain a chance to return to the club via the rookie draft at the end of November.”

The list management strategy currently leaves the Eagles with five selections – eight, 12, 20, 26 and 78 – going into the National Draft.
