Five West Coast Eagles players have been nominated for several awards by the AFL Players Association for their significant contributions on the field during season seven of AFLW.

Skipper and All-Australian hopeful Emma Swanson was nominated for two awards, including Best Captain and the MVP Award alongside teammates Isabella Lewis and Sophie McDonald.

The star midfielder was the Eagles’ most consistent player across season seven, averaging 21.5 disposals, 5.5 clearances and 3.8 marks per game.

Swanson delivered a number of career-highs throughout the campaign, including nine clearances in the second win of the season against Greater Western Sydney, as well as a 28-disposal performance against Western Bulldogs in round nine.

While missing out on the All-Australian squad, young gun Isabella Lewis got the nod in the AFLPA 22under22 initial 44-player squad to add to her recent MVP nomination.

Lewis, who has become an emerging leader within the West Coast outfit, averaged 15.4 disposals and 5.7 tackles a game and was named Trademark Player at the recent Club Champion awards.

The final nomination went to one of the Eagles underrated stars Sophie McDonald, who had a shut down performance this season.

Finishing sixth in the season seven Club Champion race, McDonald was one of the Eagles most impactful players taking on the League’s toughest matchups including Port Adelaide’s Gemma Houghton, Bombers’ Bonnie Toogood and Giants’ Cora Stauton.

Young gun Ella Roberts has been nominated as the Best First Year Player after a terrific debut season.

Roberts remains a front-runner for the AFLW Rising Star award, which will be presented on Tuesday, November 22 in Melbourne during the AFLW’s annual W Awards night.

The high-flyer averaged 13.4 disposals and showcased her aerial ability, earning a Mark of the Year nomination in round nine.

Another well-deserved nomination went to Courtney Rowley, who has been chosen as a Most Courageous award nominee.

The 19-year-old emerged one of the Eagles’ toughest players known for her incredible tackling ability bringing down some of the league’s top midfielders.

Voting for the AFLW MVP, Most Courageous, Best First-Year Player and Best Captain awards is a two-stage process, with players nominating their teammates in stage one before selecting from a competition-wide field in stage two.

Players cannot vote for a player from their own club during stage two of the voting process.

The AFL Players’ Association will recognise the achievements of the award winners with a event on Wednesday, November 23 and will be revealed across the AFLPA’s social media channels.
