West Coast was outplayed in a 60-point loss to East Perth on Saturday, fading as the Royals piled on the pressure in a convincing result.

In perfect conditions for football, the Eagles started strongly and led at quarter-time before the visitors kicked away to a 9.4 (58) to 18.10 (118) victory.

On a tough afternoon, Rhett Bazzo stood tall in the backline, while Clay Hall was impressive with 29 touches and three inside 50s, closely followed by Tyrell Dewar finishing with 25 touches and seven marks.

In what was a good start from both teams, the first quarter opened with goals from ex-Eagles Coby Burgiel and Jordyn Baker, handing an early 18-point lead for the Royals.

A magnificent goal from Thomas Edwin-Baldwin moments later put the Eagles on the scoreboard shortening the margin to six points.

A solid defensive effort and goals from Jack Petruccelle and Caleb Datson gave the Eagles a slim three-point lead going into the second term.

Jack Williams opened the second term with a composed set shot, extending the Eagles' lead to nine points and giving them a lift.

West Coast soon found themselves on the back foot as the momentum shifted and, despite some early resistance, East Perth began to take control.

The visitors piled on goals through Thomas Medhat, Hamish Brayshaw, Christian Ameduri, Angus Scott, Sebit Kuek, and Ben Middleton to leave West Coast trailing by 22 points.

The Eagles needed to lift but the Royals maintained all the momentum and kicked it up a gear in the second half.

Jack Williams secured his second goal to stem the flow, reducing the margin to 24 points before East Perth maintained their control with Kuek, Brayshaw and Cassidy leading the charge and extending the lead out to 35 points going into the final term.

The Eagles persevered with a nice play between Lucca Grego and Harry Barnett reducing the margin back to 54 points. Another strong play from Grego saw the margin trimmed to 48 points.

But it was too little too late as the Royals remained clinical around the clearance and continued to run away with the lead.

Hamish Brayshaw starred for East Perth with 25 disposals, four marks and two goals, while Kuek was also a force for the Royals finishing with four goals, 12 disposals and six marks.

The Eagles have the bye next week to reset before heading to Joondalup Arena to take on West Perth on Saturday, 24 May at 4.30pm, with the game streamed live on 7+.
