Where and when: Adelaide Oval, Sunday, May 25, 12:40pm (11:10am WST)

TV: Live on 7 and 7plus in WA, nationally on Fox Sports and Kayo (see broadcast guide here)

Last time we met: Waalitj Marawar 5.8 (38) defeated by Kuwarna 21.11 (137) at Adelaide Oval, round 12, 2024.

Kuwarna was far too strong the last time these two sides met, Waalitj Marawar suffering a 99-point loss at Adelaide Oval, which turned out to be their biggest loss of the 2024 season. Waalitj defender Jeremy McGovern (25 possessions, seven marks) battled against the tide, Tim Kelly collected 23 disposals and Harley Reid tried to lift the team in the third quarter, finishing with 14 disposals and a goal. Waalitj were on the back foot from the opening bounce and couldn't manage a goal until the seventh minute of the second quarter when Jack Williams converted a set shot. Kuwarna winger Lachlan Sholl had a game-high 34 disposals, midfielders Matt Crouch (30 touches) and Rory Laird (31) were busy, and skipper Jordan Dawson led with a masterly 32-disposal display.

What it means for the Eagles: After an incredibly tough time for the club following the passing of 2006 premiership Eagle Adam Selwood, Waalitj secured their first win of the season last round in front of their home fans. The morale-boosting victory was the perfect way to honour Selwood, and was some reward for effort after the team has shown positive signs of progression over the past four weeks. The win will do wonders for the belief and confidence of the players, and they will be looking to replicate that winning feeling against Kuwarna on Sunday and continue moving in the right direction.

The stat: After conceding eight goals on his AFL debut, Sandy Brock has kept his direct opponent goalless in each of his last three games.

The match-up: Brady Hough v Izak Rankine

Hough and Rankine have come face to face before in the past, though Hough was a defender and Rankine was a forward. The two will match up again this weekend, both having switched to midfield roles as their careers progress. Hough is coming off a standout game last weekend, managing a team-high 24 touches, six marks, five tackles and a goal, while Rankine finished with 26 disposals in his team’s 10-point loss to the Pies last round.

It’s a big week for: Tim Kelly, Jack Hutchinson and Tyrell Dewar

Fresh off signing new contract extensions, Waalitj trio Kelly, Hutchinson and Dewar are all set to take on Kuwarna on Sunday. Kelly extended for two more years, while Hutchinson and Dewar each signed on for a further three years. All three players bring a special and unique element to the Waalitj lineup, and it will be exciting to see them in action this weekend, and in the future.

Big call: Having kicked two goals in each of his last two games, Bailey Williams will continue his streak and kick two goals at Adelaide Oval on Sunday.
