The West Coast Eagles have secured three promising young talents, with Lucca Grego, Tom Gross and Hamish Davis all signing one-year contract extensions with the Club.
The trio have impressed with their work ethic and impact since arriving at the Club, and are part of an exciting new wave of Eagles working to cement their place at AFL level.
By adding a year to their initial two-year draftee contracts, the emerging Eagles are signed at West Coast until at least the end of 2027.
Gross, who made his debut in round four against GWS, said the decision to stay was an easy one.
The Oakleigh Chargers product has quickly settled into the west and shown plenty of promise in six AFL games to date.
“I’m excited. I‘ve put the work in and now I get the reward for it,” Gross said.
“It was an easy decision; I’m loving my time here. It’s great fun being in Perth, the boys and coaching staff are so welcoming. It’s like having 44 mates.
“I’ve had a taste now and hopefully I can keep putting my hand up for more games. Playing consistent footy and understanding my role is the focus.”
Yet-to-debut Victorian Grego also jumped at the opportunity to extend after his first six months in Perth
“It was a super easy decision. When I got told the news I jumped for joy,” Grego said.
“I think I’ve been playing some pretty consistent footy so far, and I’ll keep doing what the team needs to hopefully get that AFL game soon.”
Claremont product Davis, who played four AFL games earlier this season, said he’s excited to keep building.
“I’m super stoked and really looking forward to the next couple of years,” Davis said.
“I loved my start in the AFL team. It was a great experience and I want to build on that for the rest of the year.
“Whether it’s at WAFL or AFL level, I just want to play my role and keep improving.”
West Coast Head of List Management and Recruiting, Matt Clarke, praised the growth and impact of the trio.
“Tom really hit the ground running after a strong pre-season, earning selection in round four,” Clarke said.
“His tenacity, physicality and competitiveness have been standout traits since arriving, and we’re excited to have him on board for the next two seasons.
“Lucca has made a big impression with his game awareness and versatility across multiple roles in the WAFL. He’s shown a great attitude and we look forward to seeing him push for senior selection.
“We’re also thrilled to extend Hamish, who’s already played four AFL games this year.
“His dedication and professionalism have been outstanding and we’re excited about his continued development.”
