Emerging West Coast midfielder Clay Hall has been recognised as the round 16 Telstra AFL Rising Star nominee following his composed and industrious performance against Collingwood on Saturday.

The hard-working inside mid finished with 22 disposals, four marks and four tackles at Marvel Stadium, continuing his impressive rise this season.

Hall, part of the club’s WA-based talent pipeline, has earned plaudits for his work rate and now adds a Rising Star nomination to his resume.

“It feels good,” Hall said. "It’s always nice to get a little bit of personal recognition, but ultimately that’s not what I’m here for.

"It’s just nice to see the team starting to build some chemistry and starting to stamp our brand, which is really nice.”

After making three AFL appearances early this season, Hall had to bide his time waiting for more opportunities despite a dominant stretch of form for the WAFL Eagles.

The 20-year-old averaged 29.2 disposals in six State League games, standing out with his competitive edge and contested ball-winning.

An under-18s All-Australian in his draft year, Hall is part of a budding midfield featuring Harley Reid, Brady Hough and Elijah Hewett, and among the Eagles' next generation set to take the club forward.

The Binningup product is the second Eagle to be nominated for the Rising Star award in consecutive matches for the Club, following Tyrell Dewar's gong before the bye.

The exciting duo followed in the footsteps of Reid (2024), Hewett and Reuben Ginbey (2023) by earning nominations in recent seasons.

West Coast has also rewarded seven players with their first AFL games this season - mid-season rookie Tom McCarthy, Archer Reid, Tom Gross, Hamish Davis, Sandy Brock, Bo Allan and last round's impressive debutant Jobe Shanahan.

Only eight games into his career, Hall believes in the future the Eagles are heading towards.

“We’re building something great at this club which I’m really excited for,” Hall said.
