West Coast is sticking with the 22 that took the challenge up to Collingwood last round, only changing the sub for Friday night’s clash with Greater Western Sydney.
Following the announcement that Malakai Champion would become the Eagles’ eighth debutant this season, coach Andrew McQualter signalled the young gun would start as the sub at Optus Stadium.
"I don't love it, but he is going to start as the sub tomorrow night. I appreciate it's not ideal for a debutant, but he still seemed pretty happy when we told him," McQualter said.
"Our 22 played some pretty good footy last week, so we liked a lot of what they did and we wanted to be consistent and keep the team the same.
"But we wanted to reward 'Mally' as well."
Champion replaces veteran wingman Jayden Hunt, who was the sub against the Pies and only came on in the final term.
Hunt will play a full match for the WAFL Eagles against Subiaco on Saturday, and be joined by experienced duo Tom Cole and Matt Owies on their returns from injury.
West Coast will wear their 2025 First Nations guernsey against the Giants to celebrate NAIDOC Week and be gunning for a second victory of the campaign.
Bouncedown is at 6.20pm, with the match to be broadcast live in WA on 7 and 7-plus, and nationally on Fox Footy and Kayo.
