Hosted at Eagles HQ and brought to life through the Club’s partnership with Hawaiian; 11 junior football clubs came together in a dynamic initiative designed to support grassroots football, empower young female players, and celebrate the game’s strong female role models.

The 203 young female girls aged 10-14 from neighbourhood clubs of Hawaiian’s shopping centre precincts participated in an afternoon featuring a behind-the-scenes tour of the Club’s facilities and an on-field skills session led by Eagles AFLW stars.

Additionally, two coaches from each of the clubs were offered an exclusive coaching session from Senior Coach Daisy Pearce, as she gave participants an insight into her journey, leadership philosophy, and her impact across sport and media.

As a keepsake to commemorate the day, each of the players received a custom training shirt featuring their club’s name – with the local clubs all being Kalamunda, Melville, Mt Hawthorn Cardinals, Claremont, Swanbourne Tigers, Cottesloe Magpies, Bayswater, Sorrento Duncraig, Warwick Greenwood, Noranda, and the Vic Park Raiders.

Eagles Head of AFLW Michelle Cowan highlighted how proud the Club was in offering an opportunity to connect the next generation of local female footballers with their AFLW role models.

“We’re incredibly proud to launch this clinic alongside Hawaiian and create a space where young girls can connect with our AFLW players, build their skills, and see what’s possible through football,” Cowan said.

“It’s more than a training session, it’s about inspiring the next generation, strengthening our community ties, and celebrating the growing impact of women in sport.

“It’s a privilege to connect our AFLW players and club with aspiring athletes and provide a clinic full of inspiration, learning and fun. These young girls are the future of our game, and initiatives like this are vital in nurturing their passion and potential.”

The girls had a fantastic time throughout, seeing the sheer volume of girls from other teams there and the Eagles AFLW team should be inspiring for their pathway.

Whilst some of our team members have had a chance to visit the facilities before, they never had the opportunity (until now) to train with the AFLW team at MRP. That was definitely a highlight for them.

This inaugural clinic marked the first collaboration of its kind between Hawaiian and the West Coast Eagles, with both partners sharing a commitment to creating more opportunities like this in the future to support the junior pathway for female footballers.

Hawaiian General Manager of Community Leah Royle reflected on the shared values between Hawaiian and the Club which has helped shape the strong and impactful long-term partnership spanning over a decade.

“Our partnership with the West Coast Eagles and the AFLW team is about more than football - it’s about showing the next generation of female leaders and young people that their dreams are within reach. We’re so grateful to work with our partners to bring this idea to life,” Royle added.

“We’re passionate about creating opportunities that help young girls build confidence, develop skills, and see what’s possible when they’re supported and inspired.

“Hawaiian is proud to be part of the Western Australian community and believe deeply in the potential of our young people. Strong female role models in sport inspire young girls to dream bigger and aim higher - and when women are visible in sport, they become powerful symbols of possibility.”

On behalf of the Claremont Junior Football Club, just wanted to say a big thank you to you and your team for putting together such a great afternoon yesterday! I got nothing but positive feedback from the girls, they absolutely loved it! From the outside looking in, the day ran so smoothly, and I was amazed at how you managed to give the girls such a range of opportunities in such a short amount of time, particularly with how many kids there were!
