The West Coast Eagles are set to be without key defender Beth Schilling for the remainder of the season, after she suffered a foot injury in the team’s round one win over Gold Coast on Thursday night.

“Sadly, Beth suffered a left foot injury in the second quarter and was pulled from the game due to the pain and discomfort she was in,” High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.

“Scan results show a Lisfranc rupture, and unfortunately, Beth will miss the remainder of the season.

“Beth has had a tough run with injuries, but she’s a trooper and the team will wrap their arms around her and support her on her road to recovery.”

In other news, Charlotte Riggs is making positive strides with a wrist injury that she sustained in the pre-season.

“Charlotte is making great progress and is back in training drills,” Batterton said.

“She'll look to get the final tick off in the next week for her return to game play, and we are optimistic that she will be available within the next one-to-two weeks.”

Defender Belinda Smith continues to rehab a quad injury, while fellow defender Lucy Boyd is progressing though an ankle injury, and Annabel Johnson is set to return to running after knee surgery.

“Belinda has made good progress with her quad injury, as has Lucy with her ankle, and they will both be around three weeks away,” Batterton said.

“Annabel is looking to return to run over the next week or so after her knee surgery, introducing some straight line running into her program.”
