Liam Baker has tonight claimed his place in West Coast Eagles history after being crowned the 2025 John Worsfold medallist.

Star recruit Baker polled 338 votes in an outstanding first season back in WA, with gun defender Reuben Ginbey (286) runner-up and midfield dynamo Harley Reid (267) rounding out the podium places.

Clinching the Club Champion award underlines Baker’s importance to West Coast’s developing squad.

After playing in two premierships at Richmond, the lifelong Eagles fan immediately became a trusted on and off-field leader for first-year coach Andrew McQualter.

Baker played every match in 2025 across all three lines – forward, midfield and defence – while also standing in as captain for the final two rounds.

The 27-year-old led the Eagles for disposals, contested possessions and inside 50s, laid the second-most tackles and rated third for goal assists in an impressive campaign.

Ginbey was a worthy runner-up following his brilliant third AFL season when he established himself as one of the competition’s best emerging defenders.

The 20-year-old handled some of the toughest assignments in the game against the opposition’s most dangerous forwards and rarely lowered his colours.

Ginbey was also named the Best Defensive Player after helping to fill the huge void left by retiring great Jeremy McGovern.

Reid blossomed as the Eagles’ midfield leader in just his second year to claim a top three finish for the first time in his career.

The recently re-signed 20-year-old star’s stretch between rounds nine and 19 featured scintillating football, when he polled 173 of his votes in 10 games.

Co-captain Liam Duggan was honoured as Best Clubman for a record third time in a testament to the esteem he is held at West Coast.

It was the second year in a row Duggan has been named the Chris Mainwaring medallist – also a first for the Club.

Midfielder Clay Hall was named the Emerging Talent winner, with premiership small forward Jamie Cripps (24 goals) taking out the Leading Goalkicker award for the first time in his career.

Thomas Edwards-Baldwin was named the WAFL Eagles Best and Fairest ahead of runner-up Jack Petruccelle.
