West Coast Eagles defender Lucy Boyd is set to push for AFLW selection for Sunday’s RAC Derby after making a successful return through a scrimmage game last weekend.
“Lucy got through some valuable minutes in the scrimmage and will now complete full training this week,” High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.
“Lucy is looking to be available for selection, which is a great result after spending the past month on the sidelines.”
In other positive news, experienced defender Belinda Smith is also on track for a return, with her recovery progressing strongly.
“Belinda will be in full training this week, and if all goes to plan, she will be available for selection this weekend,” Batterton confirmed.
Annabel Johnson continues to build towards a return from her knee injury and is eyeing availability in round six.
“Annabel will reintegrate into some full training this week,” Batterton said.
“She won’t be available to play this weekend, but she’ll look to fully train next week with the goal of being available for round six. Annabel is tracking well in her return.”
Midfielder Sanne Bakker has taken encouraging steps in her recovery from illness, gradually increasing her workload.
“Sanne is back into some low-intensity skills and running as we build her volume,” Batterton explained.
“Sanne is still four to six weeks away as we work through her reconditioning phase, but she’s making positive strides.”
