Former West Coast Eagles midfielder and current club staff member Krstel Petrevski has capped off an outstanding WAFLW campaign by winning her maiden Dhara Kerr Medal on Monday night at Crown Perth.
Petrevski, who works at the Eagles as a First Nations Regional Community Officer, polled an impressive 26 votes to be crowned the WAFLW’s fairest and best, becoming the third Subiaco player in history to claim the honour.
The 24-year-old delivered a career-best year, averaging 26 disposals and five tackles per game while playing a pivotal role in Subiaco’s run to the preliminary final.
Petrevski edged out Perth recruit Isabella Shannon (21 votes) to secure the medal, with former Eagles Jayme Harken and Matilda Sergeant (both Claremont) along with Swan Districts’ Jaime Henry rounding out the top contenders on 19 votes.
Addressing the crowd on the night, Petrevski said her connection to Subiaco and her teammates was central to her success.
“To my teammates and the football club, it’s a great privilege to play for Subiaco and I’m incredibly privileged to wear the gold and maroon,” Petrevski said.
“I can’t’ be the footballer I am without you guys. You make me a better player. I’ve made lifelong friends and family.”
Petrevski also thanked Subiaco coach Baker Denneman, who is also the current West Coast Eagles AFLW midfield coach, and the club for their commitment to women’s football.
