In unfortunate news, multiple West Coast Eagles players are set to spend time on the sidelines as the team approaches the halfway point of the season.
First-year Eagle Courtney Lindgren has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2025 season with a lower back injury.
“Courtney was removed from our round four game with back spasms,” High Performance Manager Sam Batterton said.
“After her symptoms escalated, we sent her for a precautionary scan.
“Unfortunately, the scan revealed a stress fracture in her lower back, this means her season has ended and she will now begin a rehabilitation program.”
Meanwhile, Lucia Painter has entered the AFLW’s concussion protocols after suffering a head knock late in the third quarter of last weekend’s RAC Derby.
“Lucia was initially cleared after her in-game assessment but developed delayed concussion symptoms post-match,” Batterton said.
“She’ll miss this week against Melbourne while following the return-to-play protocols.”
Ruck Liz McGrath is also set for a stint on the sidelines after injuring her ankle against Fremantle on Sunday.
“Liz suffered a sprain during the Derby match and has since undergone a scan,” Batterton said.
“She’s expected to miss three to four weeks as she recovers.”
In more positive news, Annabel Johnson is tracking well in her return from a knee injury.
“Annabel has integrated strongly into the skills component of training this week,” Batterton said.
“She’ll look to increase her intensity across the next few sessions, with the goal of being available for selection this weekend.”
Sanne Bakker is also making encouraging progress in her recovery from illness.
“Sanne has started to reintegrate into training with the group, which is really pleasing,” Batterton said.
“She’s building up her conditioning and we believe she’s around two to three weeks away from being available.”
