A dominant Sunday of football saw the Eagles stay on top of the ladder, taking down East Fremantle and East Perth in back-to-back wins at RAC Arena amid 2025 Telethon celebrations.

Despite the wet conditions the Eagles looked clean and cohesive in their consecutive top-of-the-table clashes, scoring not an issue for the ladder leaders.

Skipper Ben Green stamped his authority on the match as well with several goals before East Fremantle hit back through competition-leading goal scorer Benjamin Moncrieff. Green ended the game with a whopping 11 goals, matching the opposition’s output as a team.

Half-time added gale force winds to the equation but the blue and gold side were able to maintain their advantage in the second half thanks to Levi Bennett and Tristan Thomson’s resolute defensive efforts.

Tyson Knowles added three majors of his own as West Coast propelled themselves to an eventual 32-point win thanks to three straight five-goal quarters after an inaccurate opening term.

WEST COAST         1.5     6.5     11.7      16.7 (103)
EAST FREMANTLE    0.1    2.2     6.4     11.5   (71)

Much like the first game of the day, the reigning premiers procured an early lead and never looked back against the Royals, with Paul Whitehurst doing the damage on the scoreboard.

Tin Yan Tse found plenty of the ball in space as the Eagles grew their lead to an unassailable 37-point three-quarter-time margin, proving they are still the team to beat having not yet lost in season 2025. It is the club’s 11th straight victory, dating back to round nine last year.

Whitehurst finished with five goals, while Green added four and Tse two as the deadeye Eagles eventually ran out 18-point winners, holding on despite a late East Perth surge.

West Coast now own three spots in the top ten goalkickers list with Whitehurst (3rd, 28), Green (4th, 27) and Knowles (8th 12) all consistently contributing to the goal tally throughout the season.

West Coast’s slick ball movement proved too much for East Perth and the Eagles moved to a perfect 7-0 with a well-earned rest upcoming. This week sees a competition-wide week off with a bye to follow for the Eagles in round nine.

The club’s next games will be held at Cockburn ARC on the 16th of November against Swan Districts at midday and Peel Thunder at 2pm in rounds 10 and 11 action.

WEST COAST    4.1     8.2    11.2     13.2   (80)
EAST PERTH     0.1      5.1     5.1       10.2   (62)
