Coming fresh off a three-week break, the reigning premiers were put to the test against Swan Districts and Peel Thunder but continued their undefeated win streak.
It was the Swans who came out firing putting the Eagles on the ropes early with a four-goal blitz to start the match.
A late goal from reigning Best and Fairest Paul Whitehurst allowed for a slight shift of momentum to finish the quarter, before a much-improved display in the second term once skipper Ben Green entered the match.
The second would be the Eagles’ quarter with seven-straight goals to respond to the Swans hot start, six of which came from Green in a dominant display.
It would end up as an even matchup in the second half with much of the game being goal for goal as the Eagles held firm with their 20-point lead.
Some late finishing touches in front of goal from Levi Bennett help the Eagles finish the game victorious against a competitive Swans outfit who certainly outplayed their ladder position.
SWAN DISTRICTS – 4.0 5.1 8.2 10.8 (68)
WEST COAST EAGLES - 1.0 8.1 12.1 15.3 (93)
The second match of the day saw the Eagles put it another strong performance as a team with some inaccuracies in front of goal keeping Peel within touching distance early.
A great stand out performance from Jason Kappler, who played much of the game in the forward line, setting up a handful of majors and even scoring one of his own early to set the scene for the remainder of the game.
The defensive efforts were the main highlight from the match, with the Eagles’ backline holding the Thunder to one goal up to three-quarter time in an outstanding display that made up for the missed shots at goal.
In the end it was a dominant performance as the Eagles used their skill, experience and determination to score big against Peel and keep their unbeaten season going with nine straight wins
WEST COAST EAGLES – 3.5 5.7 8.10 10.16 (76)
PEEL THUNDER – 1.0 1.1 1.3 2.3 (15)
