After Friday’s scorching session, the improved conditions provided perfect footy weather and the squad used it to their advantage, delivering a mix of drills, running loads and competitive match simulation.
Contest heats up
The intensity lifted quickly once match play began. Young midfielder Hamish Davis set an early tone with strong bodywork at stoppages, crashing in hard and finishing off a contested win with a well-earned goal.
Harley Reid spent periods stationed at full forward before rotating into the midfield, where he brought his trademark power and burst, repeatedly breaking lines and driving the ball through the corridor.
Down back, Reuben Ginbey continued his reliable summer, standing strong in contests and organising well behind the ball.
There were also promising moments from Bo Allan, whose second efforts and follow‑up pressure drew praise throughout the session. He competed strongly against his teammates, staying involved in multiple phases of play and showing a willingness to impact every contest
McCarthy continues to shine
One of the standout performers once again was emerging midfielder Tom McCarthy, who impressed with his work inside 50, his scoreboard impact and his defensive pressure.
Quick out of the middle and eager to play on at every opportunity, McCarthy’s pace and ball movement repeatedly opened up the ground. He found multiple goals through sheer work rate and clean finishing.
Yeo’s back
Elliot Yeo joined the match simulation for the first time since sustaining knee and ankle injuries in January 2025. Yeo eased into the session, getting a couple of early touches before returning to modified duties an encouraging step in his build.
A handful of players continued individual programs to the side, including Bailey Williams, Liam Baker, Harry Barnett, Tom Cole and Elliot Yeo, while Jack Hutchinson remained on bike duties as he continues to return from an ankle injury.
On the boundary, midfielder Sam Allen continued his steady recovery from an ACL injury, running laps at good speed, another positive sign as he works toward rejoining the group.
Battle of the talls
One of the highlights of the morning was the matchup between exciting 2025 draftee Cooper Duff‑Tytler and experienced ruckman Matt Flynn, who engaged in a competitive aerial contest across several stoppages and open‑play moments.
Duff‑Tytler impressed throughout the session, holding his own against the seasoned big man with strong positioning and a willingness to put his body on the line. It was an encouraging glimpse of what’s to come from the promising young tall, showcasing his competitiveness and appetite for the contest.
