As part of All the Way West, this season the club will be celebrating a Member of the Round at every West Coast Eagles home and away match.

This initiative spotlights the supporters who embody what it means to be all in—those whose passion, commitment and unwavering loyalty lift our club, no matter where they are watching from.

This week, we are proud to recognise James, whose devotion to the blue and gold stretches across decades and across state lines.

A passion that started in 1989

Born and raised in Queensland, James’ Eagles story began more than 35 years ago.
“I am a born and bred Queenslander and I have been a huge Eagles fan since 1989,” he says. “I fell in love with the club when I visited Perth that year. I have not missed a game in Queensland since the 90s.”

Now an eightyear West Coast Eagles member, James has held an interstate AFL membership since 2019 and has proudly supported our AFLW program from its inaugural season.

For him, being a member is deeply personal. “I have loved this club since I was 12 years old, and I look forward to being a member for the rest of my life.”

Memorable moments

Reflecting on the moments he would relive, two stand above the rest for James.
The first: the Eagles’ victory over St Kilda in 2020 during the Queensland COVID hub.
“Watching that game live, getting the win when we had so many players out.”

The second is etched into club history: the legendary 2006 comeback against Geelong.
“Possibly the best win in our history outside of premierships,” he says.

Game day rituals

Even from afar, James treats every game as an occasion. He likes to plan his day around the match and makes sure he’s wearing at least one piece of Eagles merch “Either a guernsey or at least a cap. I like to think it brings us luck.”

Players he’s got his eye on

Asked which current player excites him most, James doesn’t hesitate: Liam Baker.
“Just a natural leader. I feel like he will be our next premiership captain.”

A message for the team

If he could speak to the players before they run out, James’ message is simple and powerful. “Believe in yourselves and play with the pride that comes with the guernsey. Show everyone why they should never underestimate the Eagles.”

As a part of his Member of the Round experience, James took part in the Guard of Honour ahead of yesterday’s round 1 match against Gold Coast. Nominate yourself or another member to be a Member of the Round in 2026 here.
