A new-look West Coast Eagles WAFL team is ready to fly in Friday’s season-opener against Perth at Mineral Resources Park, bouncedown at 2:10pm.

Former Collingwood midfielder Fin Macrae is set to make his club debut in the blue and gold, after signing with West Coast in the Supplemental Selection Period late last year.

Macrae played 21 games for the Pies and is renowned for his clean ball use and composure under pressure, and his versatility also allows him to slot into wing, midfield or high forward roles.

Macrae will be joined by Corey Hitchcock and Sasha Kurnutt, both set debut in new colours, Hitchcock spending time at Perth and Claremont in the WAFL, while Kernutt joins from West Perth.

Promising young talent Archie Watt is set to make his WAFL debut, after joining the AFL group during the pre-Christmas block and transitioning into the WAFL program.

Watt arrived from Kyabram in Victoria after a standout 2025 season in the Goulburn Valley League, where he played 19 senior games and kicked 30 goals.

Fellow Victorian Sam Cipriani will become the team’s fifth debutant in round one, the 23-year-old forward moving to WA in the New Year, having played over 100 games for Tongala in the Murray Football League.

Eagles fans will also be pleased to see exciting youngster Elijah Hewett take the field on Friday after completing rehab on a calf issue, along with Bailey Williams who missed a portion of pre-season with a groin complaint.

Kyal Horsley’s team will be led by newly appointed captain Callum Jamieson, who returned to the blue and gold after six seasons in the AFL program.
