The Eagles Rock My School (ERMS) program has taken on a new lease of life in 2026, evolving to better support the social and emotional needs of primary school–aged students across Western Australia.
Following surveys and conversations with schools, one message came through clearly: social challenges among students are at an all‑time high. While young people are more connected than ever through social media, many lack strong, meaningful real‑world connections. ERMS has responded by sharpening its focus on friendship, teamwork and positive relationships, using storytelling and sport to help students build genuine connections.
As an experience that extends well beyond a school visit, ERMS is a powerful outreach, proudly supported by program partner Hawaiian. It brings joy, learning and inspiration to thousands of young Western Australians, creating moments that students remember long after the day is over and reflects Hawaiian’s passion for helping children and families thrive.
The Power of Friendship: Rick the Rock and Brady Hough
Central to the evolution of ERMS is the story of Rick the Rock and West Coast Eagles midfielder Brady Hough. Their friendship is inspired by Brady’s own primary school experience with his best mate, Dylan, and has been fictionalised to create a relatable narrative for students.
In the ERMS story, Rick and Brady begin as fierce rivals — whether on the basketball court, the footy oval or the athletics track. It’s not until they become teammates during basketball season that they begin to understand one another. By pushing each other to train harder, challenging one another respectfully, and learning to put the team first, the boys form a strong and supportive friendship.
This narrative highlights an important learning: success is not just about individual achievement it’s about working together, encouraging others and growing through shared experiences.
