More than 400 primary school-aged members converged on Wembley Sports Park for the annual Rick’s Rookies Coaching Clinic last Monday.

The sun came out just in time for the Rick’s Rookies members to rotate through a variety of drills including goal kicking, handballing and a fitness circuit, as well as fun games such as tunnel ball and dodge.

The children relished the chance to learn some skills of the game from their football heroes, while the players enjoyed the opportunity to put their coaching caps on and share their expertise with the next generation of football stars.

Not even a brief rain shower was enough to dampen the spirits of our Rick’s Rookies members as they were put through their paces on the footy field.

Prior to rotating to the next activity, Rookie members had the chance to get some signatures from the players on their station, and by the end of the event everyone had something signed by at least a few of their favourite players.

The Rookie members were of course joined by Rick the Rock, who made his way through the stations, lending a hand with the activities and generally causing mischief.

There was something for everyone at the coaching clinic, with free face painting, a coffee van and the West Coast Eagles Team Store van on hand for participants and spectators alike.

Rick the Rock, the players and the West Coast Eagles staff had a great morning and would like to thank all the Rick’s Rookies members who attended the coaching clinic.

The next Rick’s Rookies event for 2018 will be held in the July school holidays and more information will be sent to Rookie members soon.
