As part of All the Way West, the Club continues to recognise a Member of the Round at every West Coast Eagles home and away match in 2026, celebrating those members whose passion and commitment help bring the club to life each week.
For Round 12, we’re proud to recognise Rickie, a member whose story is built on connection, contribution and finding a true sense of belonging through the Eagles.
More than just footy
For Rickie, being a West Coast Eagles member is about far more than what happens on the field.
“Being a member means a great deal to me,” he says. “It’s not just about attending matches or wins and losses — it’s about the camaraderie, the kinship and the special bond with the family I’ve made.”
Through the Club, Rickie has found a place where he can be himself — and more importantly, a place where he feels part of something bigger.
“It’s given me another family,” he says.
A premiership shared
When it comes to unforgettable moments, one stands above the rest for Rickie.
The 2018 Premiership.
Watching the Grand Final surrounded by family at his sister’s house, the final siren sparked a wave of emotion that’s still vivid today.
“As soon as it was clear we had won, the joy, elation and pride in the club and players was palpable,” he says. “We were all jumping for joy and hugging each other.”
It’s a memory that perfectly captures what the game is all about — sharing incredible moments with the people around you.
Game day, the Rickie way
Game days are about routine, connection and being part of something bigger.
For Rickie and his brother, the day often begins with a trip to support the Eagles WAFL side before making their way to Optus Stadium. On other weeks, it’s arriving early — right as the gates open — to soak in the pre-game atmosphere.
But Rickie’s impact doesn’t stop there.
Before the first bounce, he’s hands-on with the cheer squad, helping set up flags, floggers and signs to get the ground ready. It’s a small but important role that helps bring the game day experience to life.
This impact is certainly noticed by those around him, as Rickie was nominated to be Member of the Round by a fellow fan:
"Rickie is an incredibly loyal and passionate supporter who stands by the boys no matter the outcome—win, lose, or draw. His dedication never wavers; he shows up to every game and is a constant presence at training, genuinely taking the time to connect with the players and support them as individuals. His care for the team goes beyond match day, as he also attends WAFL games, always backing the club at every level. His commitment, heart, and unwavering support truly set him apart."
Backing the team-first players
Among the current playing group, one player stands out most to Rickie – Reuben Ginbey.
“He reminds me of footballers of old,” Rickie says. “His stats sheet might not always have big numbers, but his impact goes beyond that.”
Taking on bigger opponents, playing his role and standing up in key moments — it’s the kind of effort that doesn’t always get headlines, but never goes unnoticed.
A simple message
If Rickie could share one message with the players before they run out, it would be grounded in perspective.
“Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift — so enjoy it.”
Through All the Way West, members like Rickie show that being part of the club is about more than just game day — it’s about connection, contribution and finding your place in the blue and gold.
